Funding Sources

The South West Development Commission can help South West organisations seek funding for projects from a variety of sources, both government and non-government.

A number of grants programs that can assist communities, local governments, businesses and individuals are available from the State and Federal governments, as well as private sector organisations.

The following funding opporunities may be of interest:

Regional New Industries Fund

The State Government's Regional New Industries Fund, will allocate $4.5 million across the nine regions of Western Australia to support venture creation, accelerate small-medium enterprise growth and seed innovation initiatives. A registration form is available from this website.

Regional Economic Development Grants

The State Government's Regional Economic Development Grants invests in projects that drive economic growth and jobs creation.

Local Capabilty Fund - Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy

The WAIPS aims to provide local businesses with full, fair and reasonable opportunity to access and win State Government supply contracts. This LCF round focusses on competitive SMEs in Western Australia who are seeking to specifically enhance their capabilities, increase their competitiveness and better prepare to participate as suppliers of products, services and works to Western Australian State Government agencies and entities and local government – the market.

Grants for Asian Market Export program - Round 3

The purpose of the Grants for Asian Market Export program is to better equip WA agrifood exporting businesses to develop and implement strategies to capture export market opportunities and attract investment.

Tourism WA's Regional Events Scheme

Funding for regional events is available through Tourism WA's Regional Events Scheme, which is jointly funded by Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions. The scheme is designed to assist with the development of events as tourist attractions within regional Western Australia.

Regional and Remote Touring Fund

The Regional and Remote Touring Fund supports the costs of touring performing arts shows to regional and remote towns and communities in Western Australia.

Targeted Participation Fund

The Targeted Participation Program provides funding for organisations to promote participation and active engagement of Western Australian communities in sport and active recreation.

Science funding programs

State Government investment in science supports the development and diversification of Western Australia's economy and delivers a range of benefits for the State. Click here for funding programs.

Regional Airports Development Scheme

RADS is a State Government grant program delivered by the Department of Transport aimed at improving airport related infrastructure in regional Western Australia.

Regional Events Scheme

Tourism WA's Regional Events Scheme (RES), supported by Royalties for Regions, is an annual funding round for smaller, developing regional events across the State.

Priority Sector Funding

The PSFP is a grant program established by the Western Australian Government with the aim of assisting Western Australian companies to engage with and develop international business capability with the Asian market in industry sectors considered a priority by the State.

Active Regional Community Grants

Active Regional Communities (ARC) aims to increase the opportunities for regional people to participate in sporting and active recreational activities in regional Western Australia. It is tailored to meet the ever changing demands and challenges of sport and active-recreation groups within the nine diverse regions of Western Australia.

Grants for Women

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for local governments and community service organisations to implement projects that focus on addressing the unique issues faced by women.Funding of up to $5,000 is available for one-off activities or initiatives, with a duration of up to six months that contribute to the program's priority areas. Funding of up to $10,000 is available for longer term (over six months), strategic initiatives involving a range of partners that will contribute to creating sustainable or systemic change in the program's priority areas.

Regional Community Child Care Development Fund

Grants are currently available for projects that address one or more the strategies identified in the Education and Care Services Plan (ECSP) for Regional Western Australia.

Youth Engagement Grants Program

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for local governments and community service organisations to implement projects that engage young people (10–18 years old) in creative ways and help achieve positive outcomes.
Funding of up to $5,000 is available for one-off activities or initiatives with a duration of up to six months involving one or more partners and that contribute to the achievement of program objectives.

Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund

Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) exemplifies the Western Australian Government's commitment to the development of sustainable infrastructure for sport and recreation across the State.

Community Crime Prevention Fund

The Community Crime Prevention Fund supports local community crime prevention initiatives, involving or supported by the police and the community working together on projects to address identified crime prevention priorities.

Regional Venues Improvement Fund

The 2018-2019 Regional Venues Improvement Fund (RVIF) supports improvements and upgrades to eligible arts and cultural venues in regional Western Australia operated by Local Government Authorities and not-for-profit organisations.

Future Focus for Aboriginal Art Centres

The purpose of Future Focus for WA Aboriginal Art Centres is to strengthen and advance the development of WA’s Aboriginal art centre sector. This includes well established, larger art centres to newer, smaller art centres.

 

Federal

Regional Airports Development Scheme

There are two streams of funding available under the program: infrastructure projects and community investments.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Export Hubs

This program provides grants from $150,000 to $1.5 million to help establish and/or operate Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) export hubs in the six Growth Centre sectors. The export hubs will work with Growth Centres to facilitate SME export opportunities.
