Bunbury Development Committee
Growing Bunbury as Western Australia's second city
Formed by the State Government, the Bunbury Development Committee (BDC) is growing Bunbury as Western Australia’s second city.
The group is ensuring cross-government and stakeholder coordination is delivered efficiently to create better community outcomes on transformational projects.
As custodians of the development vision for Bunbury, the BDC guides urban development, renewal and place-making, while facilitating further opportunities for greater CBD integration.
The BDC facilitates and supports key projects.
The initial projects that fall under the umbrella of the BDC are:
- Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront
- Koombana park development
- Withers Urban Renewal
- Glen Iris Liveability
Other projects may benefit from being delivered with the guidance of the BDC in the future.
Membership
Membership draws from community, business and government. Members report to the Minister for Planning.
Appointed community members (nominated by the Minister for Planning) are:
- Chairperson, Robyn Fenech
- Community representatives, John Castrilli and Geoff Klem
- Business representatives, Stan Liaros and Kanella Hope
- Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce representative, David Kerr
- Indigenous representative, Sharon Cooke
- Mayor, City of Bunbury, Gary Brennan
The committee also draws on the expertise of representatives from the departments of Transport; Communities; Planning; Lands and Heritage; plus SWDC (DPIRD), LandCorp and Southern Ports Authority - Bunbury.
