SWDC the gateway to State Government jobs and project tenders

Friday, 7 July 2017

Looking for a State Government job or tender in the South West? If so, the South West Development Commission's website is the place to visit.

The SWDC website has become a gateway to employment and project opportunities, thanks to the addition of direct links to Tenders WA and Jobs WA.

Complementing the initiative is a commitment to promoting and maximising local supplier, contractor and employer opportunities through the addition of a local content officer.

SWDC acting chief executive officer Ashley Clements said the new initiatives added another dimension to the work already being done by the Commission to stimulate economic growth.

"From facilitating trade opportunities to supporting and driving transformational projects, the Commission works in a variety of ways to generate jobs and boost local businesses," Mr Clements said.

"It's important not only to have jobs for today's residents, but to also plan ahead to ensure that new and diverse employment opportunities are generated as the population of the region increases in the coming years.

"Projects such as Transforming Bunbury's Waterfront and the Busselton-Margaret River Regional Airport development are expected to open up new opportunities for the region and its residents."

Mr Clements said the Commission recently organised an information session to connect local businesses and organisations with the tenderers short-listed for the Dolphin Discovery Centre component of the Transforming Bunbury's Waterfront project.

"We plan on holding similar events as the project moves forward," he said.

The jobs and tenders links, as well as a local content officer initiative, were announced in Bunbury on Friday July 7 by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan as part of the State Government's commitment to increasing economic development and employment across regional WA.

"Training for the local content officer will begin shortly, and we look forward to introducing them to you in the near future," Mr Clements said.
