Last call for entries to South West photo comp

Tuesday, 27 June 2017

Got a great photo that captures the spirit of the South West?

Maybe it's of your family out and about enjoying the great outdoors? Or perhaps it's of one of the region's iconic attractions?

Whatever the scene, if you've snapped a quintessentially South West moment on camera, you've got a chance to have it featured in next year's South West calendar - but you'll have to get moving.

Entries for the South West Development Commission's annual This South West Life photography competition and calendar project close this Friday June 30.

SWDC acting chief executive officer Anna Oades encouraged photography enthusiasts interested in helping to promote what makes the region such a great place to live, work and play to have a go.

"They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, and we want the help of locals and visitors in conveying to the rest of the world what is special about our region," Ms Oades said.

"Winning photos will feature in the 2018 This South West Life calendar, copies of which will be made available for free to promote the region."

A total of 13 winning photos will be selected to feature in the 2018 This South West Life calendar, along with 13 runner-up winners.

One winner will have the additional honour of being the Chairman's Choice, while another will receive the CEO's Commendation.

The recipients of both the Chairman's Choice and CEO's Commendation awards will each win an instant camera, with other winners and runner-ups receiving DVD prizes.

The competition is open to people of all ages, and both amateurs and professionals. Photos must have been taken in the South West between January 1 2017 and June 30 2017 to be considered.
