State treasure now publicly accessible, thanks to the wonders of technology

Wednesday, 15 August 2018

The South West Development Commission has digitised an historic Baudin map from the early 1800s and is providing the opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to access a copy for non-commercial purposes.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, SWDC has been able to make available a high quality digital version of the map of the West Australian coastline that relates to the South West.

Captain Nicolas Baudin's expedition to Australia to chart the coastline and make scientific observations left a lasting impression on WA, with many place names originating from the French voyage.

To enquire about opportunities to use the digital map, contact the South West Development Commission on 9792 2000 or .
