Time is ticking on the annual South West photography competition

Monday, 25 March 2019

If you want to be in the running to have a photo featured in next year's South West calendar, now is the time to enter.

The South West Development Commission's annual This South West Life photography competition closes Saturday 30 June.

SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball said the contest this year urges photography enthusiasts to turn their lenses to the landscapes and landmarks of the South West.

"Some of region's landscapes and landmarks are well-known and we are challenging people to bring a fresh perspective to these familiar sights by capturing them in a creative way," Ms Ball said.

"The winning images will feature in a calendar that will be made available for free for the purpose of promoting the South West region."

The competition is open to people of all ages, and both amateurs and professionals. Photos must be taken between 1 January 2018 and 30 June 2018, and meet the theme landscapes and landmarks, to be considered for being part of the calendar.

A total of 13 winning photos will be selected to feature in the 2019 This South West Life calendar, along with 13 runner-up winners.

One winner will have the additional honour of being the Chairman's Choice, while another will receive the CEO's Commendation.
