Chance to take part in free pilot program aimed at growing local businesses

Thursday, 21 November 2019

Every business has room to grow – and thanks to a new pilot program, enterprises in the South West are being given the chance to equip themselves to apply for State Government contracts and grants.

Small-to-medium businesses in the region are invited to register their interest in taking part in a free program designed to build business capability and competitiveness over a 12 month period.

Run by the South West Development Commission and Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, the Join the Dots program is aimed at supporting business growth.

Participants will initially take part in an assessment of their entrepreneurial mindset and then have an opportunity to take part in workshops geared at improving their skills.

SWDC chief executive officer Mellisa Teede said the State Government had a strong focus on facilitating regional business capability and growth, with a Local Content Adviser Network aimed at maximising local supplier, contractor and job opportunities in the regions.

Join the Dots is designed to help take your business to the next level by providing skills training to meet the specific needs of the business owner,” Ms Teede said.

“We look forward to supporting the development of participating businesses.

“At the end of their 12 month journey, we hope to see more of our small-to-medium businesses in a position to tap into growth opportunities, as well as having a metric around entrepreneurial mindset development.

“We want businesses to feel confident and comfortable with tendering for contracts and applying for grants.

“It’s all about strengthening our local businesses in order to create local jobs.”
