Help shape the Mangrove Cove of the future

Monday, 10 February 2020

If you want to help shape the Mangrove Cove of the future, head to the site opposite the Dolphin Discovery Centre later this week and share your thoughts.

The State Government’s Bunbury Development Committee will be available between 5pm and 8pm on Friday February 14 as well as Saturday February 15 from 8am to 11am to learn what you most value about the area.

Input received during the consultation sessions and through an online survey will inform planning for the undeveloped portion of the site.

Future development will build on existing stage one works delivered by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions ─ Parks and Wildlife Service and which include a playground, outdoor classroom, lookout and interpretative signage.

BDC chair Robyn Fenech said the committee encouraged local residents to get involved in planning for the future use of the Bunbury asset.

“What you share with us during consultation sessions and an online survey will be valuable in shaping how this area will be used in the future,” Ms Fenech said.

“This is the community’s chance to work with the BDC to further turn this space into a thriving place that we can all get excited about.”

The BDC was established by the State Government to facilitate the delivery of critical infrastructure projects as part of Bunbury’s transformation into Western Australia’s second city.

The group is ensuring cross-government and stakeholder coordination is delivered efficiently to create better community outcomes on four transformational projects.

The projects are Mangrove Cove, Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront, Withers Renewal and Glen Iris Liveability.

The online survey is open until Friday February 28 and can be completed by clicking here. For printed copies of the survey, visit SWDC on Level 9 of the Bunbury Tower at 61 Victoria Street.
