RED Grant – Focus
We’re pleased to have supported Alpine Laundry to take an exciting step in its journey through the provision of a Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant.
The RED Grants program is a State Government initiative that is investing $60.85 million over eleven years in locally-driven projects to stimulate economic growth and development in regional Western Australia. In the South West, the RED Grants program is delivered by the South West Development Commission with support from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
Commercial laundry preparing to take on a bigger load
A Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant has assisted a commercial laundry in Bunbury to take an important step towards realising its expansion plans.
With the support of funding allocated in Round 6 of the program, Alphine Laundry was able to purchase new equipment for the purpose of improving operations.
Since the new conveyer and towel folder have been in place, owner Robert Witten has reported a significant increase in productivity.
“What it has allowed us to do is bring all our linen to a central point,” Mr Witten said.
“So, when we pack, we can pack a lot quicker and be more efficient.”
The next step is to establish a clear bag system that will allow the Halifax-based business, which has clients in the accommodation sector in the South West and Peel regions, to take on a bigger workload and increase its output of fresh, clean laundry.
Alpine Laundry’s story is an example of how the State Government’s RED Grant program can support the plans of local businesses, with a focus in projects that contribute to increasing or sustaining jobs, expanding or diversifying industry, developing skills or capability, increasing business productivity and attracting new investment to the regions.
