Collie grant helps serve up popular new business

Business in Focus

Pasquino “Pusky” Crescenzi took a redundancy from Muja Power Station and started Muja Pizza Bar on Wheels, bringing back to life a former family pizza business in a contemporary form. The mobile food business has been a hit amongst both old and new fans of the much-loved Collie wood-fired pizza. So much so, that Pusky and wife Mel plan to buy a bigger oven to help keep up with demand.

Collie grant helps serve up popular new business

The Collie Futures Small Grants Program has continued to support the aspirations of the transitioning Collie community, unlocking opportunities that diversify and build resilience as the economy shifts from a dependence on coal.

Among the latest recipients is Muja Pizza Bar on Wheels, which has cooked up plenty of interest since getting on the road with the support of a grant.

From weddings and engagements to sporting nights and corporate events, there has been no shortage of people and organisations booking for functions.

Although Muja Pizza Bar on Wheels has been on the scene only this year, the business has its origins in the former Muja Pizza shop on Throssell Street.

Muja Pizza was resurrected when Pusky took a redundancy from Muja Power Station and started Muja Pizza Bar on Wheels, bringing back to life a former family pizza business in a contemporary form.

“The older generation – the ones who were younger when mum and dad had the shop – reckon the taste is still there,” Pusky said.

“They reckon it’s great.”

And with the local community getting behind the business and so many fans wanting to get their hands on a slice, there are plans to buy a bigger oven.

“It’s been great, the community has got behind us,” Pusky said.

“It’s gone off, it’s gone mad, it’s going great.”

Hawaiian and Margherita are among the most popular menu items being served up by Mel and Pusky in the Muja Pizza Bar on Wheels.
