Collie’s Just Transition in focus
Supporting communities through economic transition is an important part of the South West Development Commission’s work. Collie’s Just Transition is a priority for our team, as we continue to play a role in the WA Government’s efforts to build a more diverse economy.
The WA Government has been working to transition the Collie economy from its dependence on coal by investing to attract major projects and support new industries and economic opportunities.
As part of this effort, the WA Government is working across agencies through the Just Transition to diversify Collie’s economy and support initiatives that build the town’s strengths, creating new opportunities for the community.
The Commission has an important role in this transformation, working with government, industry and the community to support economic diversification and help create a strong future.
During a recent visit to Collie, the SWDC Board was able to see first-hand the impact of the Commission’s investment into local business and industry. The visit highlighted both industry development initiatives and the recipients of small grants awarded through the Collie Future Fund.
