Strengthening Western Australia’s presence in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and fast-growing wine markets was the focus of a recent outbound trade mission to Bangkok, attended by wine producers from Margaret River and the Great Southern.
Led by WA wine industry associations and supported by TradeStart SWDC, the event in May brought together 19 producers for two days of strategic engagement with key stakeholders from Thailand’s hospitality, retail and import sectors. The program featured market insight sessions, retail site visits and a trade showcase event with exclusive regional masterclasses, creating an ideal platform to highlight the premium quality, diversity, and export potential of WA wine.
The showcase welcomed more than 150 members of the Thai wine trade, including importers, distributors, sommeliers, hospitality buyers, and media, offering direct connections and meaningful opportunities for future collaboration. The event was held at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, and delivered in partnership with Drinks Business Asia, whose editorial and digital coverage amplified the message across regional and global networks.
This event was delivered in partnership with the Margaret River Wine Association, Great Southern Wine Producers Association, WA Wines to the World, Great Southern Development Commission, and Drinks Business Asia.
Next up, TradeStart will welcome international buyers from across Asia and the Middle East to Western Australia for a curated mission focused on premium food and non-alcoholic beverages. The showcase event will be delivered in collaboration with Buy West Eat Best’s ‘Meet the Buyer’ trade show in Perth, creating a unique platform to connect with international buyers visiting WA and a curated list of local domestic buyers.
