From the COVID-19 pandemic to the industrial transition of Collie, the Commission has traditionally played a role in supporting the region through economic change. This month, we highlight our work in the Southern Forests during the Native Forests Transition.
Following the State Government’s decision to end native tree logging in Western Australia to preserve approximately 400,000 additional hectares of karri, jarrah and wandoo forests, the Commission took on a role supporting business, industry and community through the Native Forest Transition. In Manjimup, we have served as the frontline for Native Forest Transition programs and associated funding rounds.
From assistance with funding options, project concepts, applications and business document review through to monitoring the impacts of program funding on the ground throughout the Warren Blackwood, we have has worked collaboratively with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) to assist worker transition and deliver industry and community development projects.
