You can now watch the South West town of Augusta take centre stage in the Stan Original Series Scrublands: Silver. The series premiered earlier this month, after being filmed there in 2024.
Augusta spectacularly doubles as the fictional coastal town of Port Silver in the screen adaptation of the best-selling novel Silver by Chris Hammer.
The production brought economic and cultural benefits to the region, employing a crew and engaging local residents as extras and support staff – not to mention putting Augusta on show and elevating its profile.
Backed by Screenwest, Lotterywest, and the WA Regional Screen Fund, the shoot once again spotlighted Augusta as a prime location for film and television production.
“Scrublands: Silver was the first production of Third Act Stories, and for me as an expat Western Australian returning home. I was blown away by the talent here. Augusta was our perfect location for the fictional town of Port Silver – physically beautiful with forest, beach, river and migrating whales… and completely unspoiled by developers, it’s like a coastal town from my childhood. The locals couldn’t have been more welcoming to our cast and crew of 90 who became honorary Augustans for seven weeks,” said Martha Coleman, Producer.
Tune in on Stan to see Augusta on screen — and perhaps spot a few familiar faces!
And if you want to learn more about the ‘Making of Silver’, there are opportunities to do so at the upcoming Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival.
