South West and Great Southern wine industry representatives explored new market opportunities in Bangkok during a recent two-day trade mission to Thailand, supported by the South West Development Commission.
As part of a fresh push to foster export sales growth and listing opportunities for local wine producers, the delegation spent May 21 and 22 deepening their understanding of the Thai market and building buyer-producer relationships.
A total of 19 wineries travelled from the South West and Great Southern for the chance to raise awareness of what they have to offer and meet prospective importers, distributors and winery staff.
The Thailand Fine Wine Mission incorporated a market familiarisation, primarily for new-to-market producers. The mission culminated in a showcase event, comprising trade-tastings and regional masterclasses for both new-to-market producers and those with established distributions.
The outbound trade mission was a result of a collaboration between Wines of WA, South West Development Commission, Great Southern Development Commission, Margaret River Wine Association, and Great Southern Wine Producers Association.
