New safety store equipping local business and industry

Business in Focus

Alecia and Peter Swan have officially opened Partners in Safety, a one-stop solution that fills a gap in Collie by offering safety gear and support to business and industry. We were pleased to attend the grand opening of this new business last month and gain first-hand insight into the way our small grant has made such a big difference.

Alecia and Peter Swan have officially opened Partners in Safety, a one-stop solution offering safety supplies and support to business and industry in the Collie community.

Filling a gap in the safety supply chain, the business stocks safety products from leading brands as well as provides practical support and expertise.

“A lot of people come in here every day of the week and go ‘this is what Collie needs, this is great to see this store in town’,” Alecia said.

As part of assisting the Just Transition of Collie, funding from the Collie Futures Small Grants Program has supported the setting up of the new business situated in a building on Forrest Street that was once occupied by an automotive shop. The grant was also used to purchase plant and equipment.

“It’s significantly helped me to get where I need to be, so I’m really appreciative of the funding that’s come through,” Alecia said.

“To get the grant was actually a really big relief because we knew we had a quicker start up than a much slower burn than what we were looking at if we didn’t get the money.”

The Collie Futures Small Grants Program assists the transition the Collie economy from its dependence on coal by diversifying the economy and creating new jobs.

Grand opening day.
