The South West is celebrating following the announcement that plans for an Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH) in Bunbury are a step closer to coming to fruition.
In a big win for the South West, Cook Labor Government has positioned AMTECH as the State’s first dedicated advanced manufacturing, technology and renewables zone.
The commitment includes $55 million to develop industrial land at Picton as the site for AMTECH, with initial plans to establish Western Power manufacturing facilities that will boost local jobs in the manufacture of power infrastructure for the State’s energy transition needs.
The State-backed Western Power manufacturing facilities will be the anchor tenant for AMTECH, thus providing immediate benefits whilst the next stage of development is planned.
The Western Power facilities will leverage common use infrastructure, existing transport linkages and a skilled local workforce to strengthen supply chains and local production capability to support the State’s energy transition.
We are excited about this first stage of development for AMTECH, which will underpin future investment in partnerships and facilities designed to foster collaboration and R&D breakthrough.
We thank the dedication of local industry leaders, whose support helped shape the feasibility study and business case for the project, and look forward to continuing to working with our stakeholders to progress the vision.
