Record number of applications for South West RED Grants

A WA Government initiative that supports locally driven job‑creating projects in the South West has received a record number of applications in its latest funding round.

Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants attracted 91 applications to the South West Development Commission before closing on 9 January 2026, surpassing the previous record set in Round 7.

The strong response highlights the continued demand for support among local businesses and organisations looking to grow, diversify, and invest in new opportunities.

Applications are now being assessed, with successful projects to be announced later this year.

Since the program began, 58 South West projects have secured more than $5 million in funding through the first seven rounds.

The WA Government is investing more than $60 million over 11 years into RED Grants to stimulate economic growth and development across regional Western Australia.

The program backs initiatives that create jobs, boost productivity, build capability, diversify industry, and attract new investment – delivering long‑term economic and community benefits across the region.
