Supporting Production in the South West

Screenwest, together with Stan and the 9Network, has announced that the second gripping mystery in the Scrublands trilogy, Scrublands: Silver, will premiere April 17 on Stan.

Production of the series saw the town of Augusta, Western Australia transformed into the fictional town of Port Silver for seven weeks last year.

“Scrublands: Silver was the first production of Third Act Stories, and for me as an expat Western Australian returning home. I was blown away by the talent here. Augusta was our perfect location for the fictional town of Port Silver – physically beautiful with forest, beach, river and migrating whales… and completely unspoiled by developers, it’s like a coastal town from my childhood. The locals couldn’t have been more welcoming to our cast and crew of 90 who became honorary Augustans for seven weeks,” said Martha Coleman, Producer.

Scrublands has attracted production funding from Screenwest, Lotterywest and the WA Regional Screen Fund which is designed to attract screen projects to undertake production in regional Western Australia to encourage regional film industry activity, build local capacity and contribute to the liveability and vibrancy of regional WA communities.

We’re proud to work with Screenwest and other organisations to support film production in the South West of Western Australia and maximise the benefits to the region.

With Scrublands: Silver, SWDC assisted the producers to identify sites of interest for filming, introduction to local government, business operators and local community figures, and organisation of a Welcome to Country by traditional custodians.

We are pleased the film crew were very warmly welcomed and embraced by the local community – so much so, a number of the team reportedly stayed on after filming to relax and enjoy the region further.
