Sections of Bunbury’s waterfront are currently being reshaped to unlock the potential of the South West city, creating thriving precincts – and in doing so, exciting new opportunities are emerging for businesses and the wider community.
The continued transformation of Bunbury’s waterfront is currently centered on the construction of marine infrastructure that are considered keys to unlocking further opportunities.
This WA Government project is currently being carried out under the banner of Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront with project partner, the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI).
Casuarina Boat Harbour breakwater and land reclamation
Progress continues on the new 460-metre-long northern breakwater at Casuarina Boat Harbour. Construction is now at full length at low level and is advancing towards full height across the entire structure. Ground compaction has been completed in the newly reclaimed area. This project will pave the way for additional floating boat pens as well as the establishment of a regional hub for the marine industry and the delivery of a significant community asset.
Koombana Bay Groyne Upgrade
Refurbishment of the groyne at the west end of the Koombana foreshore is nearing completion. This work will restore safe public access, stabilise Koombana Bay beach and increase community space. The upgrade could potentially lead to private investment in a multi-club facility.
