Vineyard 28 expands with support of RED Grant

South West winery Vineyard 28 is toasting to success, having recently boosted domestic sales and expanded its market presence into South East Asia.

The latest achievements for the business follow an increase in wine production afforded by the efficiencies made possible through new equipment purchased with a Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant.

And the business has hinted there could be more to enjoy from Vineyard 28 in the future with new product lines in development including a non-alcoholic beverage.

Vineyard 28’s Mark Cumbers said the winery had been progressing through a staged expansion and growth phase that began with the support received through the DPIRD Agrifood and Beverage Voucher Program. Through this program, Vineyard 28 was able to engage a consultant to develop a feasibility report on upgrading the power to meet future winery requirements.

Following an upgrade to the existing power supply to the property, Vineyard 28 then set out to improve the processing capability and capacity in the winery.

An inverter system and upgraded refrigeration system has since been installed, along with new crushing and pressing equipment that was commissioned into operation for Vintage 2025. The RED grant funding contributed to refrigeration, crushing and pressing items.

“The outcome of all this is allowing us to process wine grapes not only more efficiently but with the best practices into the future,” says Mark.

“It has also resulted in our ability to increase our wine production resulting in an increase to not only our domestic sales but also expansion into export in Singapore and Malaysia.

“Future plans include expanding our contract crushing for other winery businesses who do not have their own equipment, opening up opportunities for additional staff within our business.”
