The South West Development Commission (SWDC) is leading a feasibility study and business case for the establishment of an Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH) in the Bunbury Geographe region.
Over the past 12 months, we have worked closely with consultancy firm Deloitte and a multi-agency steering group, representing a cross-section of government sectors, to complete the necessary studies.
We are pleased to announce that the study is nearing completion and has successfully identified key components for the project, including design costings, cost-benefit analysis, operational modelling, industry partnerships, and staging options for development.
AMTECH aims to create a world-class advanced manufacturing precinct, offering industry access to shared infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, educational and training programmes, and research facilities.
The support of our business leaders has been crucial to the success of AMTECH. Their generous contributions of expertise and time have been invaluable in informing the conceptual design.
The growth of advanced manufacturing is essential to enhancing productivity and securing the future of our industries, as technology and global trends continue to reshape business practices.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to equip our people with the skills needed for the industries of the future, while creating pathways to long-term, sustainable employment.
We look forward to providing further updates once the government has reviewed the business case.
